O Te Raki - AC Upgrade
Full system replacement for school classrooms and offices
Trident was engaged to replace an ageing, non-operational multi-split air conditioning system serving offices and classrooms at Te Kura Kaupapa Māori O Te Raki Air Conditioning Upgrade. The existing system had reached the end of its service life, leaving parts of the school without reliable heating and cooling. The project involved replacing two multi outdoor units and their connected indoor units, while reconfiguring part of the system by replacing two indoor units with individual single split systems to better suit the school's requirements.
A modern Mitsubishi Electric solution was selected to provide reliable, energy-efficient heating and cooling while maintaining a clean external appearance. By utilising multi-split systems, multiple indoor units could be connected to a single outdoor unit, significantly reducing the number of outdoor units required around the school. New Mitsubishi Electric AP Series indoor units were installed throughout the offices and classrooms, with all refrigerant pipework, electrical cabling and controls replaced to provide a completely renewed HVAC system.
Completing the project while the school remained fully operational required careful planning and close communication with staff to minimise disruption to teaching spaces. Replacing the existing concealed services presented additional challenges, as the original pipework had been installed during the building's construction. Long refrigerant pipe runs and limited access required careful installation and commissioning, with each system charged appropriately to ensure optimum performance.
The completed installation has restored reliable heating and cooling throughout the school, providing modern, quiet and energy-efficient air conditioning for both staff and students. The upgraded system delivers year-round comfort and a reliable long-term solution tailored to the school's needs.
