Full rooftop HVAC upgrade alongside a commercial re-roof

Trident was engaged to deliver a comprehensive HVAC upgrade as part of a major commercial warehouse and office building re-roof on Normanby Road. The project involved replacing ageing air conditioning systems, upgrading ventilation equipment, and completely reorganising the rooftop plant layout to create a cleaner, safer and more serviceable installation. The documented project scope included upgrades to office air conditioning, toilet extraction and fresh air systems, along with new Monkeytoe platforms and walkways.

Working alongside the roofing programme, Trident carefully planned and staged the project to accommodate an operational building while managing tight timeframes and changing weather conditions. Constant communication with the client and other trades ensured minimal disruption to day-to-day operations and the successful completion of the project on schedule.

A combination of Toshiba high wall split systems, underceiling units and ducted systems ranging from 2.5kW to 16kW were installed throughout the building. Across the two roof areas, eight existing systems were retained where appropriate, while the remaining indoor and outdoor units were replaced. All new refrigerant pipework, electrical cabling and controls were installed, with services neatly supported on cable tray and protected using custom-fabricated covers. Exposed pipework was wrapped in Denso tape to provide long-term weather protection.

To improve both safety and future maintenance, Trident installed three Monkeytoe roof platforms and walkways, creating safe access to rooftop equipment while reducing foot traffic directly on the roof. Multiple extract fans, supply fans and hood exhaust systems were also upgraded, resulting in a modern, organised rooftop installation that is both reliable and easy to maintain.
